A recent video posted on ‘thekarlanthonyexperience’ account was captioned ‘Weight loss tips to lose weight everyday’ has been watched by more than 65,000 people so far.
The three-minute clip has been hailed as “possibly the best weight loss advice ever”.
“Would you like to lose a pound a week just by following simple tips? Imagine losing five pounds over a month just by following these simple tips,” the video begins.
His first piece of advice relates to the purpose of teeth.
He says: “The first thing you need to understand is that you have teeth for only one reason. They’re not for smiling with. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m sure your teeth are lovely when you smile, but they’re actually blades. They’re there to break food down and the first step of digestion in your body is in your mouth. Teeth blend and crush into a paste.”
He continues by explaining an easy way to understand portion sizes.
“The second very important thing to understand is that the size of your stomach is roughly the size of your fist. Now put that on a plate, spread your fingers out and then look at how much food you overeat. Look at how much food you’re actually putting on the plate which is probably 40{fc1509ea675b3874d16a3203a98b9a1bd8da61315181db431b4a7ea1394b614e}, 50{fc1509ea675b3874d16a3203a98b9a1bd8da61315181db431b4a7ea1394b614e}, 60{fc1509ea675b3874d16a3203a98b9a1bd8da61315181db431b4a7ea1394b614e} bigger than what your stomach can hold.
“Now it does stretch, it does bloat, but when you start to understand that, you start to reduce portion sizes. Go down to a side plate, slow down your eating, chew your food and stop when you’re satisfied,” he continues.
He then explains the importance of being aware of what he calls a “mental appetite”.
“The other thing people aren’t doing anymore is eating when they have a physical appetite, so they’re eating because it’s 1pm, 5pm, 8pm 8 pm and so on. Or they’re going ‘I think I’m hungry, I think I’ll have a sandwich’. Or or they’re stressed out.
“‘I’ll go up and get some sandwiches’, ‘I’ll make something to eat’ or ‘I’ll order in something’ and it’s really just to change your mood. That is just not anything to do with diet. That’s purely down to mental appetite as I like to call it.
“Having an appetite is essential. What is an appetite? A physical appetite is when your stomach growls and shakes and rattles to let you know that the food you ate at lunchtime has now been all used up, we have no more resources in there, we’ve got a few more hours to burn this fuel but once that’s gone we’re out of fuel.
“So appetite is there to let you know that the food you’ve eaten previously is now being fully used. It’s now time to think about getting more. But if you’re eating because you think you’re hungry, you’re always going to have weight on.”
His final piece of advice is to stop eating when you’re satisfied.
“Stopping when you’re satisfied is essential,” he said.
“It takes 15 to 20 minutes for your stomach to tell your brain that it’s satisfied. If you’re eating too fast, big portions, not chewing your food, eating because you think you’re hungry, eating it all in 5, 6, 7 minutes you are always going to be big,” he said.
TikTok users were quick to praise the advice and thank him for sharing it.
“This is possibly the BEST weight loss advice ever,” one person wrote.
Another added: “This makes the most sense, thank you. I will definitely take note. This is what people need to hear. Really appreciate it, thank you.”
“Great video! I could do with this everyday in my head,” one person wrote to which he replied: “Make some notes and place them around the kitchen. It takes time but well worth it.”
Someone else said: “Very true but hard to apply.”
Many others commented “brilliant advice”, “what I needed to hear” and “very well explained”.
