Dr Michael Mosley is most popular for his array of dieting tips, however he has also spoken of the importance of combining diet with exercise for weight loss on a recent appearance.
On one of his regular features on This Morning, the diet guru said: “I don’t think exercise alone is going to help you lose weight but it improves your mood if nothing else. The data suggests if you combine it [diet] with exercise that’s a great way [to lose weight].”
However, he warned that when we’re trying to lose weight, we need to focus on losing fat and not muscle, saying that “that was the danger of going on a really low calorie, low protein diet.”
Instead, he recommended that we consume “at least 50g of good quality protein a day,” in order to preserve our muscle.
Another way to build muscles as well as your overall health is to practice a regular exercise routine. Here are the two exercises that Dr Mosley asks us to try.

How can press ups and squats help you lose weight?
While press ups are a low-cost work-out method to build your upper body strength, squats are thought to be great for your mental strengthening.

It’s always a good idea to do the press ups and squats first thing in the morning, according to Michael Mosley.
Speaking of his own exercise routine he said: “I try to do 40 press ups most days. I do them [press ups and squats] first thing when I get out of bed,” adding “They give you a full body workout, help your heart, and may even boost your brainpower.”
